- Ahmad Eriana: My project is providing information on Thyroid Disease and how it affects the body.
- Mirsalimi_Ariana:
- My presentation is about the importance of wearing a mask even when we are outside. It focuses on how Corona Virus spreads when kids play sports, and how to help prevent further spreading. It is interactive and also includes a game at the end. You will also see on the site of my presentation that it says “Thanks to -NerdAnimator- for the original project”. Please disregard that message. Scratch put it there and I cannot remove it. I watched one of -NerdAnimators- creations and liked his characters so I asked the mentors for permission to use the characters he drew in my project. For some reason, it wouldn’t let me simply copy the characters to my own creation, but it also made me “remix” his project. Because of this, it put his code and characters in “my stuff”, however, I deleted all of the code he made and only used my own. None of my project has his code or ideas in it, the only thing I used from him was his drawings, which I was given permission to use. In case you are interested in checking out the creation made by -NerdAnimator- (which I got my characters from) please use this link: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/494872781

- Sanvi Singh:
- My project is about the importance of getting vaccinated . Right now is a really hard time for many families around the world. And for you and others safety getting the vaccine would be very beneficial. I said I would make a database that would keep records of everyone who received the vaccine and those who have not. With this information you can reach out to those over calls and try to convince them to get the vaccine.
- Chander Lewis:
- This is a project to test some basic knowledge about science/ healthcare. The website was messing up by making the questions repeat, so if you see that, you will know why. The short test is quite easy and fairytale themed

- My project was about the effect of vitamin c on toothpaste growth in guinea pigs. In my graph you can see that vitamin c isn’t very effective on guinea pigs, however orange juice is more effective. While doing my project, I learned that you can adjust the transparency of the graph color. On my graph the transparency is semi-transparent, but when I changed it to .0, then it became completely transparent. Overall, I had fun coding and would do it again. I look forward to learning more about coding so that I can create a mobile app to help babies and their parents who are in the hospital communicate better. I hope to do this by learning more about R or Scratch someday soon!
2020 COVID Projects

Laina Lopez – Air travel has decreased because of the close quarters and lack of ability to really socially distance. Although airlines now have safety measures such as masks, taking temperatures, and using only 30-50% of seats, most people are still not comfortable with flying. I believe it’s because people do not want to breathe the stale recirculated air in the planes that could be contaminated with Covid-19. In my programming, upset about missing their summer vacation to Paris the Spites come up with solutions for decontaminating the air and touched surfaces in planes so people will feel safe flying again.
Kareena Sharma and Sahiti Gellala – As people slowly start to integrate back into society, they could be experiencing fears over contracting the virus. Doing mundane things such as grocery shopping could put individuals at risk because of the lack of social distancing. Our goal is to aid social distancing measures in an efficient and innovative way with our app!
Mia Burns – The problems that my project solves are that people don’t know enough about the coronavirus and when they look it up there is a bunch of reading and hard to understand articles. I made an interactive and easy to understand the model of the coronavirus cell to solve the problems. You see a picture of the cell inside and outside that is labeled. You can click between all of the parts to see a description of the cell. When people use my project the impact it will have is that they know how it spreads and the difference between COVID-19 and the flu.
Aafiya Gandhi – My name is Abby and I have made a Scratch project about Depression During COVID-19. It includes information about depression, some solutions, and asks yourself if you do have it.
Aditi Srikant – This project was designed to make sure people wear masks and use hand sanitizers regularly and also to show people that hospitals can’t take in so many patients and that we need to help by donating supplies and also keeping ourselves safe.
Shriya Jayakumar – I made my Scratch program about gathering supplies because during these harsh times supplies like masks, hand sanitizer, soap, and toilet paper need to be kept handy. I wanted to show that these supplies are very important during this pandemic.
Shivali Singh – My project focuses on people not wearing masks when entering stores. So a possible solution would be to have a camera that can check if people are wearing a mask or not. This will affect the community because it is easy to implement and can make sure that people are wearing masks to lower the risk of infection. If a business says they have this device than customers will also feel better and be more willing to come to shop. This will increase the activity and the shop will be more profitable. In schools, this will be useful because it makes sure that students are wearing masks that have been proven effective by institutions like the CDC.
Gabrielle Eason – I decided to do my project on telehealth because there are so many telehealth apps I decided to create an easy app. My app’s purpose is to provide a quick response that fills an important need for people that will answer their questions and concerns about COVID-19. A survey will be taken asking if you have any COVID symptoms. Depending on your responses, you will be sent a text message to either seek immediate medical care or receive instructions on social distancing, home isolation and self-care.
